Transfer is Friday!

Out of my seven eggs, 6 were mature. Out of six mature eggs, they fertilized 4!! I am so very very excited!! My transfer day is Friday at 10:15am. The clinic decided on a three day transfer. Do not ask me why. Maybe they will tell us more about it on Friday. I called my husband right away. I was trying to hold back the tears, but it was not controllable. I told him and he was so excited. we both cried a little bit. I then called my mom, and she cried. I called my best friend, and she cried. It has been a crying fest!! Oh boy....I hope it is a boy too. At first I really wanted a little girl. a little girl that looks like me, walks and talks like me. It sounds so precious and fun. But, I want  a boy just as bad. My husband and him can really bond and he would be momma's boy. But I would have him strong and independent as well. I just want a baby to call my own and hold and love. okay..got to stop or I will start the waterworks again.

what I fear: because I am always fearing something with this IVF rollercoaster.
1) I start the progesterone shots tomorrow. This needle is long! and I hear they give you a Charlie horse
2) I have to drink a lot of water an hour before my transfer. and then they have to put pressure on my stomach..for some reason I do not really understand. I fear peeing all over the place. That would not be fun. The nurse said maybe just drink one to two cups 1/2 hour before. I will see how full my bladder gets with one cup of water tomorrow to see how much and how long I need to have a full bladder.
3) one embryo or two? I believe i am set for one. I will be okay with that.

but overall, I feel so happy my babies are growing right now.

  1. Wonderful news!!! I'm so excited for you both! Good luck starting the progesterone shots - they're not too bad, but make sure you ice before the shot, rub hard on the spot to disperse the oil for a minute or two after the shot, and then a heating pad helps.

    Oh how exciting!

  2. Yay yay yay!!! I think they choose to do 3 day transfers were there are fewer embryos and they don't want to lose them by waiting more days. If you had like 10 embryos then losing a few in those 2 extra days wouldn't be a big deal. It's a good thing....so don't worry! Those embryos will be awesome on Friday...and if you are just transfering one...you should have a few to freeze!
And, don't worry about the transfer...mine was so easy, simple and quick and I didn't feel a thing! It was the easiest part of this journey! It was the best day of this journey...I wish I could bottle up the feelings I had right when they put those embryos in...such a wonderful feeling, so remember to enjoy that moment! So excited for you!!!

  5. Happy Transfer day! just put your feet up and relax! you did an amazing job.
We did the PIO shots me laying on my tummy, with two pillows under my chest - I never felt the needle that way. Good luck with everything!

  6. the water is to help them visualize your bladder on the ultrasound. helps them get their place markers so they place your little bundle in just the right spot.

i think i already gave you my tips on the PIO. as for postion, i did it standing up with no weight on the foot of the side i was using that night and my foot slightly turned in. i think i got all those crazy ideas from various blogs.

    very exciting times!

  7. Yay for being so close to being PUPO! The transfer is the easy part, except for the full bladder. I don't think you have to drink so much water that you feel miserable... just enough to fill your bladder to help them get a clear picture of your uterus. In fact, they were running late my transfer day and kept letting me go to the restroom to the point that I just knew they were going to tell me to drink more, but everything was fine. All good advice above about PIO... ice, massage, heat. I stand and try to relax the hip we're using but some people say it's easier to lay down. Can't wait to hear about Friday!!!

  8. sending much love and luck to you. rates of BFP are the same for day 3 and day 5 transfers when you read the stats so you are in good shape. Lay on a heating bad after your progesterone shots, that will help with the soreness. I will be thinking of you....

  9. good one., all set to go. My advice is dont go overboard on the water, just drink till your bladder feels full. I went over the top and tried to drink the reccommended amount and it was just to much for my bladder, I ended up having to go to the loo just before transfer and try to empty some. Not an easy task I tell you, when you are busting to go to the loo and can only let out a wee bit. SOHARD!!!!! good luck, hope it works for you are you get some good frozens too.

  11. What great news! I will be thinking of you on Friday! You really don't have to drink that much water...don't overfill your bladder or you will be miserable. I would pee an hour before the procedure then drink 12 oz of water. Seemed to work well...

  13. day 3 is a good way to go with fewer embryos. that's why they scheduled it on day 3. it gives them a better chance to grow inside of you than survive outside in a dish. i know this roller coaster is so brutal, but we're here for you. good luck on your transfer tomorrow! thinking of you.

  14. Great news, I agree, dont go overboard. Both times I was shaking I had to pee so bad and till they crank you open and push on your belly with u/s, you just dont realize the pain you can have if you belly is too full.

Awesome report, my Dr always scheduled 3 day but this time we got pushed to a 5 day. Maybe that will happen, they usually wait till day 3 too see where they are at.

  15. Hello! I saw your post on my blog and I will tell you that you will be JUST FINE! I am really hoping this transfer works for you!!

I'm telling you, I believe in the grand scheme of things.. that I literally went through all I went through, so that I could be cured of my fear of needles. It was BAD, BAD, BAD. ANd now it's NO BIG DEAL. No big deal at all. My mommy doesn't have to come with me in order to get blood taken. I had blood drawn all the tiem during pregnancy -- You can do this.. Please email me - we can talk more! I will be following your news!
